Ten civilians were killed and 13 injured by the military council’s airstrikes including the attacks with 500-lb high explosive aerial bombs and cluster bombs in Mindat Township of Chin State in three months, according to the Chinland Defense Force (CDF)-Mindat.

The military council carried out 25 airstrikes including the use of 500-lb high explosive bombs, internationally-banned cluster bombs, incendiary bombs and rockets in Mindat Township in three months, said Salai Ha Aum, spokesperson of CDF-Mindat.

“There are no big damages to houses and buildings, but the wildfire burned for about 3 to 4 days. The negative impact is the military council’s aerial bombardments destroyed houses. In addition, the people had to strive to prevent the spread of fire. We had to live in fear as the scout airplane was flying. The junta’s attacks are said to be quite intense,”

The military council’s airstrikes killed 10 people—four civilians from Panpar village in Station-1, Wanmathu village in Station-2 and Kihta village in Station-3 and six gasoline carriers from Hnam village in Paletwa Township.

In addition, airstrikes destroyed 39 civilian houses, three churches and two schools, according to the CDF-Mindat.

From January to March 2024, the military council fired many rounds of heavy shells, wounding nine civilians and destroying 10 civilian houses.

“The artillery shelling is taking place almost every day. The military is firing heavy shells to all corners. In such a month, the military council carries out more attacks. The military council is carrying out attacks without any clash in Mindat. So, we use the term “Genocide”. It can be said that it is a deliberate attack on innocent people.

Two civilians lost their legs each and another one got back wounds. The military council planted a lot of landmines on the public roads.

Within three months, the military council arrested 30 civilians. It continues to detain 10 civilians till now, the CDF-Mindat says.

Currently, the conditions of the detained civilians are still under investigation, and those arrested by the military council were often sentenced to long prison terms by military courts.

In March and April, the military council often carries out more aerial attacks and artillery shelling, so the CDF -Mindat warned the public to remain vigilant.
