KNLA Second General urges Karen Armed Groups to destroy military regime together

2 May 2021

On May 2, Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Second General Saw Baw Kyaw Hel urges four Karen Armed Groups to destroy military regime together.

Regarding the airstrike and ground attack by military troops in Hpapon, Northern Karen State, KNLA Second General Saw Baw Kyaw Hel sent the encouragement letter on May 2 to Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), Karen Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC) and Border Guard Forces (BGF).

“Dear KNLA, DKBA, KNU/KNLA-PC and BGF members, this is first and foremost opportunity for us during our long seventy-years revolution. We have to grasp this opportunity firmly. We must show up our unity in order to save our next generations from this military dictatorship and we, our generations, have to fight for independence by destroying Burma military regime,” urged Second General Saw Baw Kyaw Hel.

He continued that it was the important time for the whole Karen community to be united as one. He also said that the enemy’s airstrike attacks in the northern Kawthoolei caused no effects and these operations were done just because they wanted their soldiers feel reliefs and the public feel unsafe. He also added that airstrike operation of the military council showed the incapability of their ground forces and on the other hand, it was just the expansion of their troops to reach the help for their ground forces that are seriously surrounded and attacked by Karen Armed Groups.

Second General Saw Baw Kyaw Hel added that it had been heard that Border Guard Forces (BGF) was asked for help by military council in respect of such expansion of troops. He then added that no plan of the enemy was good for our Karen people and such plan could cause the fighting only between our own armed groups and also cause our Karen people died.

Therefore, KNLA Second General urges to stand firmly on the side of the truth for the national benefit, to judge between good and bad, to seek the best rout for unity and to destroy bravely the Burma military regime.
