November 29th, 2021

A civilian who was preparing for the harvest festival was shot dead by the military council’s troops in Kaunglin village in Kutkai Township, according to locals.

“He was shot dead by the military council near View Point Tower while three youths were returning to the Kaunglin village by motorbike at around 6 pm on November 25th after grinding rice in Namkwat village for Thanksgiving Day,” a local told the KNG.

The victim is U Kwan Aung aged 20. He died of wounds to his head and back. Ban Khwan Nam, 16, got a minor wound to his leg. The rest did not get any wounds.

Social organizations have sent the victims who got injured and killed to Kutkai Township.

Light Infantry Battalion (LIB)-336 of the military council is active near the conflict-affected area.
On November 23rd, a soldier from LIB-336 under the military council raped a 62-year-old woman in Pharkhit village in Kutkai Township.

Locals feel unsafe as they are facing the killings in northern Shan State where the military council has reinforced the troops.
