Three brotherhood alliance strongly condemns massacre in Phruso Township

December 28th, 2021

The Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes the Arakan Army (AA), the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA)-Kokang and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), issued a statement on December 27th, strongly condemning the junta troops’ massacre of the civilians by burning them alive in Karenni State.

More than 35 people including children and women were burned to death by the junta troops, near Moso village in Phruso Township.

Four members of No.1004 Battalion of the Border Guard Force, who attempted to negotiate the freeing of the detainees, were also shot dead by the junta troops.

The military council’s act is a war crime and is intentionally committing the crime against humanity by turning a blind eye to the battlefield law and the laws which shall protect the civilians, the statement says.

These acts are common in their controlled-territories. The junta troops are flagrantly committing crimes against humanity several times.

The Three Brotherhood Alliance shares the same grief with the families of the innocent victims who were mercilessly burned alive on Christmas eve.

The alliance called on the international community to make collective efforts so as to take rapid and effective action against the military council troops who are committing human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
