January 17th, 2022

Three refugees including a child under 10 were killed by the junta’s airstrikes on an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp in the west of Phruso Township in Karenni State at around 1 am on January 17th.

A person who is helping the IDPs in Phruso said: “At around 1 am today, the junta troops bombarded two IDPs camps. The refugees are taking shelter at one IDP camp while no one is present in the other camp. An eight-year-old girl and a 50-year-old man died on the spot. Other IDPs have fled the IDP camp. I don’t know whether the IDPs are injured or not. I am going to visit the camp.”

“The IDPs from Moso village where the civilians were burnt to death, have to take shelter in the IDP camp again. Due to the airstrikes, they have to hide in the forests,” he continued.

The airstrikes killed three IDPs and injured some others.

The victims who were killed in the airstrikes are the IDPs from Moso village in Phruso Township.

The victims are a 50-year-old man, an 8-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl.
