May 24th, 2022

A woman and her 11-year-old child were wounded in the heavy shelling fired by the military council, in Madut village in Mindat Township of Chin State, according to a villager.

At around 8 am on May 23th, No.274 Light Infantry Battalion based in Mindat fired six rounds of heavy weapons into Madut village indiscriminately.

“Heavy shell hit a mango tree beside the house. The child’s right leg was cut off and the left femur was wounded. The child’s mother got minor wounds,” said a local from Madut village.

The wounded child was sent to Mindat and then to Mandalay Hospital.

The military tension between the military council troops and the Chinland Defense Force (CDF)-Mindat continues in Mindat.

Last night, CDF-Mindat attacked the military council’s troops stationed at the fire brigade hill in the east of Mindat. Fighting took place for around 30 minutes, killing two soldiers of the military council, according to the CDF-Mindat.
