Military arrests more than 10 people in Kyaiklat for saving the birthday photos of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in mobile phones

The military council has arrested more than 10 people in Kyaiklat Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, for saving the photos of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in their mobile phones, according to locals.

The military is carrying out the arrests of many civilians who defy the military council in Ayeyarwaddy Region, acting on the tip-off from the informants.

“Everybody has saved the photos of Mother Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in their mobile phones. Some people have saved the photos of the 77th Anniversary Birthday of mother Suu. The military seized the phones, arrested and charged the persons who saved the photos in the mobile phones,” a local from Kyaiklatt who declined to be named says.

Acting on the tip-off from the informants, the military is carrying out the checks of mobile phones and arrests of the people in the houses in Kyaiklat, Nyaungdon and Maubin Townships, in addition to the travellers. The number of detainees has increased day by day.

More than 1,000 people were detained in Maubin alone. Most detainees are facing trials under the sections of the political charges in Maubin prison.

At 2 am on June 21st, the military arrested five locals who are not involved in the revolution and politics at No.16 ward in Pyapon Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, for no apparent reason, according to locals.

Before the arrest, the military fired warning shots in some downtown areas in Pyapon, according to locals.
