Three children hit by landmine in Mobye; one in critical condition

Three children in Moebye Township were hit by a landmine while walking in a forest around noon on November 27, and one of them suffered serious head injuries, according to an information officer from the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) – Moebye.

“One of the children is in critical condition. The others were hit in the thighs and hands. The child who is in critical condition was hit in the head,” the information officer said.

The children who were injured by the landmine explosion are a 12-year-old and two 15-year-olds, and the one who was hit in the head is receiving medical treatment.

In addition, a 39-year-old man from Thaysuleywarthit village in Demoso Township was killed by a landmine on November 16. 29 civilians were injured by artillery fire during the November clashes.

The PDF Mobye warned the public to travel cautiously in downtown Moebye between 7 pm and 5 am as the military council continues to deploy ambush patrols in some houses in the wards and on Set Taw Yar Hill.
