July 11th, 2022

The Khamti District People’s Defense Forces have the warned military council-appointed administrators in Khamti District, Sagaing Region, to resign within ten days.

The statement released on July 9th said that the National Unity Government (NUG) has set in motion the people’s administrative mechanism in the villages, wards, and towns in Sagaing Region while junta’s administrative mechanism is being dissolved; all people working illegally at various administrative levels under the military regime have been warned to resign and leave their areas of service within 10 days.

As for Khamti District, the Homalin People’s Defence Force (HPDF) has stated that it will not recognize the recent designation of Homalin District by the SAC, but Khamti District, said HPDF’s information officer Ko Chit Min Lu.

Those who do not comply with the directive and are thus physically involved in the junta administration will be considered “destroyers of people’s lives and property” and will be severely punished under the existing laws, including the Counter-Terrorism Law, the statement said.

“We can adopt any law that is in line with the federal charter as a counter-terrorism law. We have not drafted our own one separately,” said Ko Chit Min Lu.

The statement was released with the signature of Sai Htut Khaung, in-charge of the People’s Defense Force in Khamti District, Sagaing Region.
